Pupils (15-18 years)

We offer Dutch classes for pupils from 15 to 18 years. During and after the Covid Pandemic parents choose/chose more for private lessons at their homes or online. So now there are no groups available. Depending on age and target, a class will take up from 1 to 1.5 hours.

Together with the parents we determine the language target for the pupils. Tests are according to Meijerink, CEFR (European Framework for Modern Languages). 

Lessons are divided into two parts: a language or culture project part and a part where children work individually at their own pace and level (iPad/Nieuwsbegrip/CLIL)

iPad education

Learn Dutch is aware of pupils fascination for iPads and how various applications are actually designed to improve language skills. In our Dutch classes for pupils we make use of iPad education – using apps which teach them new vocabulary and spelling skills.

Nieuwsbegrip XL

When pupils start reading, Dutch teachers start to make use of the Nieuwsbegrip XL program. With Nieuwsbegrip we practice (online) pronunciation, vocabulary and reading comprehension.

Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

Learning a language is more than just studying words and grammar. The CLIL programme helps us integrate your work and study vocabulary into the Dutch language. For instance, we ask pupils to explain to teachers – in Dutch of course! –what they have learnt at their South African school.

Of course we won’t forget cultural events like: Sinterklaas, Koningsdag, Prinsjesdag, (Kinder)boekenweek!

Minimum age: 15 years.

Duration: 36 to 38 lessons per year; public holidays and school holidays as per South African school holidays.

Location: please ask for the available locations, they might differ. Enrolment per term. Price: R 535 per pupil per lesson of 60 minutes, for 2 pupils R 750 (R 375 per pupil). We invoice per quarter of a year.

Travel costs can be charged extra.
